Stand back all bosses! A new breed of workforce is about to attack everything you hold sacred: from giving orders, to your starched white shirt and tie. They are called, among other things, “The Echo Boomers.” There are the Generation Y, born in the 80’s, and they’re rapidly taking over from the baby boomers who are now pushing 60.
They were raised by doting parents who told them they are special, played in little teams with no winners or losers, or all winners. They are laden with trophies just for participating and they think your business-as-usual ethic is for the birds. And if you persist in the belief you can, take your job and …errr…well…shove it.
The workplace has become a psychological battlefield and the millennials have the upper hand, because they are tech savvy, with every gadget imaginable almost becoming an extension of their bodies. They multitask, talk, walk, listen and type, and text. And their priorities are simple: they come first.
Faced with new employees who want to roll into work with their iPods and flip flops around noon, but still be CEO by Friday, companies are realizing that the era of the buttoned down exec happy to have a job is so dead. It’s a future of sweet talking bosses, no more “Pay your dues just like I did.” If this generation knows anything, it’s that there are more jobs than young people to fill them. The attitude is ‘If you don’t want me, Mr. Employer, I’ll go sell myself down the street. I’ll probably get more money. I’ll definitely get a better experience. And by the way, they’ll adore me. You only like me.’

Tht is soo true todays Youth wants to be the CEO of its own creation and we can really find young people getting into business pretty soon…and tht “U dont want me Mr Employer” is todays getting common attitude 
Thats the way things are getting in these days and yeah do add camcoders along with IPod’s 
Everyone loves being their own boss. Making your own rules and breaking them as you want must be the appeal factor.

Going solo is the name of the game.
You own gadgets and a lot efficient than those inefficient Burray loog {so called experienced people, complain for endless hours ). So don’t sell yourself. They’ll come and get you.

Err.. well actually I know people who are their own bosses and they follow rules like anything. The actual ‘appeal’ here is to “do” what you feel most enthusiastic about rather then ‘breaking out’ the rule boundary. Thanks for the comment.

Definitely! Time-driven jobs are on the losing end, youth today wants a Task-driven approach. If I can do something in 10 hours without compromising over its level and quality, what’s the point in having a 60-hour long week?
Billish, I slightly disagree with the solo stance. Nobody, no matter how big-a-gun he is, can’t really pull things off alone. That’s not just how it works. You need people, you need resources when you aim to grow big.

I have seen two different routes that people have started following these days and as ever are followed for ages even. That is the good and the bad. U do good then it would be hard, if your at the Evil Lane then dont wait for any surprises as ull illusionly find luck being ur way.
َI had heard my brother complaining about his two generation Y sons Thanks for the link, I should email it to him. He said that in North America there are even workshops for learning how to deal with this new types of employees.

Well, we were talking about the ‘good ways’ ofcourse. Everybody knows that being bad will get you almost ‘anything’ you want. But being good, within legal framework and playing within the rules of the game is what the challenge is.
We talked about this on the other day, Simz.
Indeed this is happening and more speedily so in the industries which require less seed capital and high innovation to sell well.
Nice post Asim! “Work for yourself” is the thing most of the people following these days, forget all those 9-6 job, boring work and no motivation. Now the young blood are motivated enough to start their own venture based on their interest which means 100% dedication, lots of lots of motivation and cool work
