It all started when the Reds (Russians) attacked Afghanistan in 1979. A military dictator by the Name Zia Ul Haq was ruling Pakistan. And as good Muslims we opened our arms and borders to the Afghans under the Russian oppression. And along came the dark era of “West” supported Radicalism, Kalashnikov culture and loads of drugs. People say never heard of any of these items before the Afghan war.

Despite the drugs and arms that Afghans brought to our country in exchange of our hospitality the worst thing that happened to Pakistan in the 80’s was Zia. He imposed his version of Islam on the country that was not very different from the Islam which the Taliban and Al Qaeda are trying enforce. Sectarian violence in the country is another gift of Zia to the country.

History Of Lal Mosque:

Coming to Lal Masjid, it was founded by Maulana Qari Abdullah in 1965. Lal Masjid was frequently visited by Pakistani officials including military leaders and ministers of the government through out. The mosque is located near the headquarters of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence, After the Soviet war in Afghanistan ended in 1989, and the mosque continued to function as a center for radical Islamic learning and housed several thousand male and female students in adjacent seminaries.

Pakistani President, General Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq was also very close to Maulana Qari Abdullah and according to Aijaz son of the dictator their friendship goes a long way back. Maybe that’s one of the reasons that when Maulana Aziz was caught red handed with a car which was full of illegal weapons and ammos he was allowed to let go and that was in 2003.

So when did we hear about them?

The conflict started when the female students of the mosque illegally occupied the Childeren Library and then we all saw how they expanded their radicalism through militancy and all was done in the name of the religion. All that was happening under the nose of Musharraf and military in the heart of Capital city and nothing was done while they were gaining power. The main reason of apparent ignorance on Government side was to portray the radical influence in the country and to tell the west that Musahrraf is their only hope in the region.

And when the time came, we all witnessed what went around for so many days. And Maulana Aziz who was the engineer of this catastrophe was caught in a very embarrassing manner as he was sneaking out in a (ladies) burqa. He is still alive today but the poor orphans that were brainwashed (by people like him) died in the massacre.

Conclusion

People blame Musshraf for the killings. But he is not alone to be blamed. The administration of the Mosque and the militants inside it were equally responsible. What happened in the 80’s and what is happening now in North has more than one villain to blame. And the sad part is that everyone is taking God and religion’s name to fulfill their evils.

It was absolutely a complicated story. I agree with the idea that these radical islamists have had their supprters among Pakistan and US politians.
Though i think musharrad did not have any other choice.
I remember story of La’l Masjid took long time to be solved and the radical islamists had made it very difficult and had remained no other choice..

You said about brainwashed orphans and it’s so sad how they cheat youth generation who too much energy to build up a good society and direct their intentions toward being fanatic inhuman creatures.
Once i saw a movie of radical islamism and in the movie, a child who was really child maybe 12 years old beheaded a person who was issued as kafir by him, And then he shout and said several times allahu akbar..
Imagine what they do with this child that become just worse than an animel in the sense of humanity and *behead* another person by his so-called innocent hands under name of allah and religion with east.

It’s just a tragedy for muslim nation and for next generation..

How they want to justify this in the presence of Allah, prophet and Ahlul Bayt?

Personally, i don’t agree to the way in which Lal Masjid admin was behaving. But i don’t see any reason in attacking and killing women for occupying a small library, while at the same time looters and killers are baptized through NRO, and allowed to rule Pakistan. No one was even tried or questioned for breaking up of more than half of country, no one asked for the Kargil fiasco, 1965 adventure and what else had not been done on this land of pure by the power hungry military and civilian bureaucracy and their cronies.
But no one bothered to ask, why all this happened.
The most recent example is the assassination of Banazir Bhutto, the government accused Baitullah Mehsood, Pakistani Taliban leaders, who is also blamed for scores of suicide attacks across the country, but now both are in a secret dentete.
I am wondering that how our security mandarins, with straw stuffed heads considered military action an option against stick wielding girls, while suicide bombers, rapists, looters and other scum of the earth roaming the land of pure proudly.
There is no Jaamia Hafsa in Islamabad, the baton wielding girls were also turned to the ashes with their hideout, but could our enlightened moderated people could tell me that why the woes of Pakistan do not come to end.

Yes maybe this operation shouldn’t have happened at the first place..yes so many lives were lost during the operation & Pakistan Army had to bear its brunt afterwards..yes we cannot blame Musharraf for all this but we can definitely blame Maulana Ghazi for making this issue become all complicated which claimed lives of so many innocent people..nothing happened to him or to his family Ammar..he’s still alive but many of his brainwashed companions lost their lives just because of him..the way he tried escaping from the mosque is so embarrassing Ammar..it was so embarrassing..if he was right then he shouldn’t have tried escaping in the burqa..if he was right he should have carried on the fight..so many people lost their lives coz of him & he cannot deny it Ammar!
This operation shouldn’t have happened at the first place if Maulana Ghazi would’ve been lil more considerate in his approach..he tried politicizing the entire issue & sadly all this happened which shouldn’t have happened at the first place..may Allah rest the souls of all those innocent people who lost their lives in peace..they were betrayed & they were being used mercilessly..this single incident triggered such a backlash that even now we’re facing its consequences..these suicide bombings etc are all in reaction to this incident..i don’t know whats happening to our country & i don’t know who’s going to rescue us from all this chaos..atleast i can’t find anyone..no one ammar absolutely no one!

@ An Illusion
The operation would not have taken place if these radicals would have been stopped ages ago. I wonder what kept the intelligence and the military from stopping them when they were weak. They were breeding on Govt’s privileges in the Zia era and afterwards.

@Shahrzad
*How they want to justify this in the presence of Allah, prophet and Ahlul Bayt?*

We all are aware that how these villains of Islam murdered and tortured Ahl-e-Bait. so how can you expect any good from them today.

@manzoor

Thank you for your comments! and welcome to ronin.

The operation took place killing women and children. And somehow we tend to forget that. And perhaps whatever is happening now is the result of that.
