The other day I met an old friend. After recalling the good old days of school I inquired him about his life. On the question the fellow got all animated and started counting all the tribulations in his life. His problems were not different from the problems that any other Pakistani faces everyday. Inflation that stops him for getting higher studies, power crisis that causes lack of sleeping which results in bad performance at work, joblessness in the country that makes him work at a low pay scale job on their conditions and sense of no security; as he has this fear that God forbid someday a bomb blast will either put his or the lives of his loved ones into an inevitable danger. In a nutshell this country is not a place to live.

Honestly, I was in no place to argue him, yes we have all these problems and they are not going anywhere towards solution but as a matter of fact with the passage of time they are increasing. But if anyone today is responsible for what has happen to this country is people like you and me. Yes we are responsible for not making enough efforts to stop the issues from destroying our country.

But despite 61 years of problem, mishaps and grudges, the whole country unites when we are watching a cricket match, some years back when earth quick struck the northern areas the whole country stood under the Greean and White flag to help our brothers. It was the most surprising sight for our older generation who didn’t expect this courage and empathy from the internet generation.  And the way that civil society came on the streets for the restoration of justice makes me both proud and hopeful that this nation got what it takes. Yes we need to work on a zillion things to make it ideal or close to something that we call ideal but trust me we can do it.

I wish you Happy Independence

Long Live Pakistan
