We passed upon the stairs,
We spoke of was and when
Although I wasn’t there
He said I was his friend
Which came as a surprise
I spoke into his eyes — I thought you died alone
A long long time ago

Oh no, not me,
We never lost control,
You’re face to face,
With the man who sold the world

I laughed and shook his hand,
I made my way back home,
I searched for form and land,
Years and years I roamed,
I gazed a gazely stare,
We walked a million hills — I must have died alone,
A long long time ago…

Who knows, not me,
I never lost control,
Youre face, to face,
With the man who sold the world.

“The Man Who Sold The World”, released in 1970, at the beginning of the career of a man who was told to be the chameleon of show and music business: David Bowie. The typical sound of the seventies (extended howling guitar solo, bombastic drums solo, some texts sung in an accent I can‘t identify) combined with his typical voice. But I like Nirvanas version better maybe because they r the best.
